| Dr Sir, |
| You will please inform E.
Withers & Bro Contractors, that it has been resolved by the Board to
continue the grading of the road from Reidsville south consentively(?),
with a view to the continuation of the track from this end without
interruption. |
| I therefore require the whole
available force to be moved to that portion of the line embraced under
Sections 17, 18, 19 & 20 and the work to be pushed vigorously on these
sections. |
| Under the 2nd article of the
general conditions of the contract I have the right to make the
requirement. |
| As the operation however will
be temporarily disadvantageous to the contractors I shall be disposed to
make some allowance to them, and shall pay them what I may consider a
reasonable sum for the object. But I do not propose to make this ass an
extra bill or to consider any amount of that nature, coming from the
contractors, on this head. |
| You will issue the necessary
orders without delay and inform the contractors that a prompt compliance
is expected. |
| Yours respectfully |
| Edmd T. D. Myers |
