We take the annexed paragraphs from the
Monroe (La.) Intelligencer of Wednesday: |
The cars coming from Vicksburg were thrown
off from the track on Friday evening last, about five miles east of
Monroe, by running over a horse. No especial harm was done to the train,
but it was detained there all night in getting righted. |
On Wednesday, the 6th inst., as the cars
were passing west over the Vicksburg, Shreveport & Texas railroad, the
engineer was fired at by a man by the name of Greer, but the shot struck
the engine without doing any damage. Officers are after him, and ample
measures will be taken to prevent a repetition of the outrage. |
