Heavy Rains
During the present week we have been visited by one of the heaviest rains that has been showered on the people of East Tennessee within the recollection of the "eldest inhabitant." The streams are very much swollen and we have no doubt much damage has been done.
There was a heavy slide on the East Tennessee & Ga. Railroad, which obstructed the passage of the trains and kept back the mails. At the time of writing, we have not heard the extend of the damage.
