Heavy Travel |
The passenger business of the
Railroad from Memphis to Louisville is now very large. The interference
of Lincoln's minions at different point, but particularly at Cairo, with
the steamboats, has diverted travel from the river to the railroad; and
the route from Memphis via Clarksville being the shortest and
quickest from all points South, is bound to absorb nearly all the
travel. One evening this week the train from Memphis brought to this
place 175 passengers, 124 of these being through passengers. |
Mr. Cain and Mr. Murphey are
the Conductors on our division of the Road
{Memphis, Clarksville & Louisville RR}; and more efficient and
accommodating officers can't be "dug up" anywhere. |
