From the Clarksville Chronicle {Clarksville, Ten.}

April 5, 1861

   At the Railroad Convention held on the 27th ult., at Cleveland, Ohio, our railroad {Memphis, Clarksville & Louisville RR} was represented by M. W. Humphreys, President, and Geo. B. Fleece, Chief Engineer and Superintendent. It is a fortunate circumstance that the last rail is laid just in time to open the road for through travel on the great Spring time card, to take effect on the 15th instant.
   Falling into the line of connected travel, we anticipate a large passenger business for the road from the day of its opening. We are indebted to Mr. Fleece for the following figures which show the condensed time card to take effect on the 15th inst. between Louisville and Memphis and Nashville and Memphis.
Going South
Leave Louisville   12 night   12:00 M
  Clarksville   9:00 A. M.   9:50 P. M.
  Humboldt   4:30 P. M.   4:30 A. M.
Arrive Memphis   9:00 P. M.   9:30 A. M.

Leave Nashville   6:00 A. M.   6:30 P. M.
Arrive Memphis   9:00 P. M.   9:30 A. M.

Going North
Leave Memphis   4:00 P. M.   5:00 A. M.
  Humboldt   8:45 P. M.   8:45 A. M.
  Clarksville   5:00 A. M.   4:00 P. M.
  Louisville   1:30 P. M.   11:20 P. M.

Leave Memphis   4:00 P. M.   5:00 A. M.
Arrive Nashville   8: A. M.   7:00 P. M.

   It will be observed that the time between Memphis and Louisville is reduced to 18 hours on one train, this being the time heretofore made via Decatur from Memphis to Nashville. The time between Memphis and Nashville via Clarksville will be 14 hours, a reduction of 4 hours in the best time practicable by any other route. We are informed that the whole road will be in first class order by the day of opening, and doubt not that the connections will be regularly made to the entire satisfaction of the traveling public.
