The San Antonio & Mexican Gulf
Railroad is now completed and in running order, within two miles of the
Court House, and in two weeks more, will approach the houses in the
outskirts of the town. There are here, evidences of considerable
improvement, and notwithstanding the scarcity of money, the town
presents a brisk, lively appearance. Its citizens entertain strong hopes
that when the great work of succession is complete, and commerce resumes
its wonted activity, that Victoria will occupy no mean position in
Western Texas. So may it be. |
