N. C. Coal and Iron |
The following is the resolution reported
by the Business Committee of the Commercial Convention at Macon, and
adopted by that body: |
Resolved, That we invite attention of all our seaport and
large commercial cities to the importance of a direct and immediate
connection with the coal and iron mines of North Carolina, and as a
military and commercial necessity, urge a connection by railroad
with the Confederate Arsenal at Fayetteville, thence by the
Fayetteville and Western Railroad {Western RR}
to the coal and iron mines on Deep River; and also to the
importance of railroad communication between Montgomery and Decatur,
Ala., penetrating, as it will, coal and iron deposits of immense
extent and value. |
