| I have the honor to
communicate to you the following proceedings of the Railroad
Presidents at their meeting on yesterday. |

| In compliance with the
suggestion of Genl Beauregard contained in the letter of his Adjutant
General of the 8th inst. addressed to the several Railroad Presidents
therein named a meeting has been held at this place at which the
following railroads were represented -- viz: |
| Mississippi Central RR by W. Goodman, Prest |
| Memphis & Ohio R. R. by J. P. Wood
Prest |
| Memphis & Charleston R. R. by W. J.
Ross Supt. for Sam. Tate Prest |
| Mississippi & Tennessee R. R. by F. M.
White Prest |
| Mobile & Ohio R. R. by Milton Brown
Prest |
| Southern R. R. by H. B. Reading, Supt. |
| On motion W. Goodman Prest,
Mississippi Central R. R. was called to the chair & W. J. Ross
Superintendent of the Memphis & Charleston R. R. appointed
Secretary. When on motion of F. M. White Prest. Mississippi &
Tennessee R. R. the following resolution was unanimously passed.
"Resolved that we unanimously recommend Robert B. Hurt as a
suitable person to fill the position indicated by Genl Beauregard by
the letter of his Adjutant General of the 8th inst." |
| On motion it was unanimously
resolved that Milton Brown Prest, Mobile & Ohio R. R. company be
requested to communicate the foregoing resolution to Genl Beauregard. |
