| A clerk is absolutely required
by the exigencies of the public service for this Bureau, and I would
respectfully ask the appointment of John W. Manson at the same
compensation limited to the lowest grade allowed by law, which is
$1,000 per annum by the act but increased to $1,500 per annum by
temporarily. |
