General,
I have in my possession Twelve hundred & fifty eight ($1,258.00) dollars collected from David R. Dillon of Savannah Ga for the purpose of reimbursing the Government for the transportation of 500 bbls flour from Petersburg to Savannah.
Dillon purchased the flour in Petersburg and by some means obtained Government transportation for it. I suspected the shipment was not really for Govt, and traced the matter to its conclusion and collected the money. I would respectfully ask what disposition I shall make of it.
