| Enclosed find the correspondence &c in
relation to the claim for repairs to the Mobile & Ohio Rail Rd.
After carefully examining the same I find the orders from Genls Polk
& Maury are in direct opposition to each other, the former
directing that the R Rd shall pay for the work the latter that the
Government will be responsible. |
| Before submitting this to the Qr Mr
General it would be necessary to obtain full particulars reconciling
the contradictory nature of the above {tear in
paper} and if you are in possession of
any information in regard to them you will please forward the same
with the return of the papers enclosed. |
