| I will be obliged by your informing me how
soon a tram or plank road can be constructed to connect Gainesville
with Selma via Uniontown or Marion. |
| It is very important to have that
connection, and I request that you will suggest what should be
immediately done to hasten its completion. |
| Neither locomotives nor iron for rail
roads can at present be obtained; and it is therefore impracticable to
consider a connection by rail between these points. |
