| I suppose Maj Page refers to
the engines & machinery for working the Gold mines near Tolusville
in Louisa & Spotsylvania Cos. {These are
probably industrial engines, not locomotives.} I have not seen them but believe
that they were of the best description, and one of them of a heavy
class. They have been much injured I am told -- portions of the
finished work have been carried away by soldiers & used in the
construction of chimneys. |
| We transported an engine to
Nelson Co. from Tolusville a few weeks since, and there is or was
another at T. for the Govt. waiting transportation to Richmond. I
presume there are yet others, but full particulars can be learned from
Mr. R. B. Davis of Tolusville. |
