| In my letter to you of 2nd July last, I
directed the delivery of the two locomotives from Leesburg to be made
to Mr Goldsborough Superintendent of the Manassas Gap RR, on the
conditions therein specified. |
| Since then the removal of Gen Johnston's
head quarters to Manassas & the withdrawal of troops from
Winchester makes it very important to render all practicable aid to
the line of railway transportation between Richmond & Manassas. |
| I must therefore modify my original order
& require the engines referred to above to be delivered to the Va
Central RR & Orange & Alex a RR Cos to be employed on their
respective Roads for the present. |
