| Your letter of the 13th inst enclosing a
communication from Col J. W. Lapsley in regard to the Government loan to
the Ala. & Tenn. River R. Rd. Co. has been received. |
| A letter has been written to Colonel
Lapsley containing a copy of the following telegram sent from this
Bureau on the 11th inst. which it is hoped will prove satisfactory. |
| "Telegram" "Copy" to Judge Thos A. Walker |
| "The Secretary of War decides that the
$220,000 will be loaned to your road for preparation of roadway
including the delivery of cross ties but the Govt. cannot contract to
furnish the iron. A further loan may be made if your company can procure
the iron." |
