| Enclosed please find copy of
communication just received from Genl Ripley. from the statements
therein made. I find that the estimated cost & proposed plan. for the
work across Ashley River. connecting the C&S and C RR so far exceeds
what I had supposed, and the fund appropriated by the Govr & Ex: Council
that unless the work is undertaken by the RR company concern it will
become necessary for me to refer the matter to the Confederate States
Government. |
