General Superintendent's Office |
| Virginia & Tennessee Railroad Co. |
| Lynchburg, Va., Dec 18th 1861 |
| |
| Charles Ellis Esq. |
| {President, Richmond & Petersburg
RR} |
| |
| Your dispatch of yesterday has been received; as soon
as Mr. Owen returns, (he is now in Tennessee) I will commence making
arrangements for moving, but I do not think I can get away before the
middle of next month. |
| Mr. Wynne I presume will attend to hiring
slaves for the coming year, if he cannot, I will go down and attend to
it. I think a small increase in the number on the repairs of the road
desirable, as the there is an increase in the business and trains. |
| Respectfully Yours, |
| E. H. Gill |
| {I believe this is related to
Gill moving to the Richmond & Petersburg RR as its Superintendent. Gill
had been Superintendent of the road during the late 1850"s.} |
