Richmond May 2 1861
   At a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Virginia Central Rail Road Company present

   It appearing from a communication from Bollman & Co (with whom the Central R Road has a contract for building an iron bridge) that they will not be able to comply with said contract. Resolved therefore that the said contract be declared void & that the President and Chief Engnr are authorised to have such a bridge built as they may deem most advisable.
   A petition from the citizens of Charlottesville asking an improvement of the Road from the Depot to the town also for additional lumber room at the Depot being laid before the Board. Resolved that this Company cannot undertake to improve Roads to their Depots and that the accommodations for lumber at the Charlottesville Depot is equal to that at any other Depot. Resolved further that the Supt report what improvement by Macadamising or paving may be necessary about our passenger depot at Charlottesville.
