| Colonel, |
| Your letter of the 18th inst. requesting
me to proceed with the salt works has been recd and will be acted upon
as promptly as possible. |
| Your suggestions will be carried out as
the case will admit. I have no other guide in the plan of works than
Prof. Thomassy's explanations, which were rather crude and hasty. |
| In the event that the Ala. & Ten. River R.
R. Co. accept the loan under the conditions named in your dispatch,
shall I offer similar terms (a proportionate amount) to the Geo. & Ala.
R. R. Co. for grading, masonry, bridging &c. on that portion of the line
within this State? |
| Very Respectfully |
| L. P. Grant |
