Western &
Atlantic |
| Owned by the State of Georgia, it
was chartered in1838. Construction began in 1839 and was completed in 1850. It connected Atlanta to
Dalton, Georgia and then on to Chattanooga. It was the lifeline for the
Army of Tennessee for about two years.
The Western & Atlantic probably operated the Etowah Railroad.
