Camp Mason
Leesburg May 31 1861
Capt T Ashby
Dr Sir,
   I fear from what I hear from Capt Rogers that ??? the department of Capt Imboden it is not in your power to take care of the pair of Rogers in case of retreat.
   I should dislike very much to lose those pieces and respectfully request that you will write me on this subject.
Your friend &c
Eppa Hunton
{This appears to be discussing protecting the two locomotives that Hunton had disabled on the western end of the Alexander, Loudoun & Hampshire RR. These two were Mason locomotives, not Rogers. There were 5 Rogers engines on the Orange & Alexandria RR, but they had already been evacuated south by this date.}
