Sir,
The public interest demands that the iron be removed from the track of the Florida RRoad forthwith at least from that portion of the Road lying next to Fernandina.
I have accordingly ordered a detail from the troops under my command, to whom has been assigned the duty of effecting this removal. You will oblige me by aiding and cooperating with Capt. Buckman, this officer in command, by furnishing the necessary transportation &c. to enable him to execute the work as expeditiously as possible.
I suggest that the iron in order that it may be entirely out of the reach of the enemy, be brought up to Lake City or Live Oak.
Very respectfully
Yr obdt Servt.
