   The Following is the Second Annual Report of the Operations of the Eastern Texas Railroad Company for the year ending May 31, 1865
   There having been no Report made since the 17th day of June AD 1861.
1st The Capital Stock as provided for in the Charter is $7,500,000, and the amount actually subscribed is $307,000 in upon which there has been paid $50,000
2nd Nothing has been expended for the purchase of land for the Construction of the Road
The amt expended for Depot ??? heretofore $ 5,000.00

3rd Indebtedness
For 2500 Tons Iron Rails delivered @ 60$ $150,000.00

1 & 5 Year Bonds for purchase of Mules, Wagons, labor &c 37,855.50
Freight & Insurance 3,500.00
Sundry Bills not yet presented estimated at 12,000.00
Total Indebtedness $342,199.19
The amt. due on unpaid Installments of Stock is $72,968.00
4th, 5th The Road has not yet been opened for business & nothing has been received in transportation account
6th Nothing has been paid in account of repairs, Cars & buildings. On account of Engines for Freight & Insurance there has been paid (heretofore Reported)   $2,000.00 and on account of Salaries  6,000.00
7th No dividends have yet been made
8th There was one Temporary Engine House, no shops, 2 locomotive Engines, 10 freight cars and the trucks and iron works for 25 more freight cars. The Depot Building at Sabine Pass and Engine House, the Bridge across Mud & Saylers Bayou were destroyed by U States Military Authorities during the late Rebellion. The Locomotives Rolling Stock & Road were taken possession of and held by the Military Authorities of the late so called Confederate States
9th The number of miles run by Construction train -- none
10th The number of men now employed on the Road -- none
11th No person has been injured in life or limb
12th No accidents have happened
13th Of 400 sections of land ??? received from the State 203 sections have been sold by the Company to pay debts incurred in the construction of the Road. The balance 197 sections are yet unlocated of which 80 sections are held on public land in the County of Angelina. Up to the 7th day of June 1861 26 1/2 consecutive miles of said Road had been completed & additional 25 miles graded ready for the cross ties & the superstructure, ??? which time the operations of the Company were checked on account of the late war between the US and the so called C States. The latter having taken possession of the Road and Rolling Stock.
