The Raiders on the Railroad
The Yankee cavalry raiders on the Wilmington & Weldon Railroad on Monday morning last, succeeded in burning the bridge over the Tar River about two miles North of Rocky Mount. They also burned the cotton yarn factory on the Tar River near Rocky Mount, belonging to Mr. Battle. What other damage they did we are unable to learn. The telegraph line is again up and working, and we believe that the energetic measures adopted by Col. Fremont will soon put the road in working order, and that in a very short time trains will again be running through.
The raiders have left the railroad ***
