From the Richmond Examiner

December 13, 1861

Notice
In consequence of the inadequate accommodation in the Depot and Cars of this Company for the greatly increased amount of freight carried for the Government and private persons, and of the necessity of unloading the arriving train, and re-loading the same cars during the same afternoon, no freight will be received at the Freight Depot after 12 o'clock, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, freight will be received until 6 P. M.
John R. Macmurdo

P.S. All goods must be accompanied with two tickets, one for the drayman, and one to be filed in this office. The weight of each package must be marked on the depot ticket. They must also be accompanied with a printed receipt, to be signed and returned to the consignor. Merchants who have not been supplied with the printed receipts, can get them by sending to me at he freight office.
