From Col. Stovall's Battalion -- Accident to the Troops
Virginia & Tennessee Railroad
Three Miles from Central Depot, Nov. 13
Ed' Sun: I write to give you a hurried account of an awful accident that has just befallen us. From the caption of this you will perceive where we are. I give you annexed the official report of the sufferers. The accident was caused by the train running over an Ox, about 11 o'clock at night of the 22d. {incorrect date -- it was the 12th}
   Company B -- Capt. Wilson -- the Captain and one man slightly wounded.
   Company C -- Capt. Kendrick -- none
   Company D -- Capt. McDowell -- Six men wounded, some seriously.
   Company E -- Capt. White -- The Captain, and Sergeant Kendall are missing, and one man wounded.
   Company F -- 1st Sergeant's official report enclosed.
