| Western N. C. Railroad |
| Mr. Smith, member of the Convention from
Macon, has introduced the following ordinance: -- |

Be it ordained, &c., That the Convention do
hereby appropriate and set apart so much of the debt due from the
Gov't of the Confederate States of America to the State of North
Carolina as may be necessary to complete the construction of the
Western N. C. Railroad to the Tennessee State line, near Ducktown, in
Polk county, Tennessee; Provided the Government of the
Confederate States of America will loan to the State of North Carolina
her bonds or Treasury notes to such amount and for such purpose."
