| At a called meeting of the Board of

| A proposition from the Western
N. C. R. R. Co. to put a train of cars upon this Road to be run by a
schedule furnished by the Superintendent of this company to carry
freight from Salisbury to Charlotte and return was unanimously declined. |
| Messrs Alex MacRae, P. C.
Cameron & D. M. Barringer were appointed a Committee to act in
conjunction with a Committee from the Raleigh & Gaston R. R. Co. to
visit Richmond and lay before Congress and President Davis the facts in
connection with the Danville & Greensboro Rail Road
{Piedmont RR}. On motion of Mr. Shaver,
Judge Saunders was added to the Committee. A proposition to call a
meeting of the Stockholders to take into consideration the construction
of a Rail Road from this Road to the Coal Fields in Chatham County
{Chatham RR} was unanimously declined. |
| The President was directed to
have a Turn Out constructed at the Camp of Instruction near Raleigh, at
the expense of the State. |

| It is ordered that the
purchase made by Dr W. J. Hawkins Prest of the R&G RR Co of a lot in the
City of Raleigh adjoining the Rail Road Depot, be recognized as a joint
purchase for this Company and the Raleigh & Gaston Rail Road Co. |

| Ordered that after this date
the Station Agents and other officers of this Company shall be forbidden
to trade and traffic in any articles of provisions or produce; or to
receive or sell any article on commission. |
