Dear Sir, |
|
I had the pleasure on the 16th to which I refer
subsequently on reconsidering your letter of 12th in which the
following passage occurs "xxxx I will on hearing from you make such
a report as will relieve you of all censure for the distribution of
wood on the NC RRoad" |

My dear sir Any officer deserves censure when he
is derelict in his duty and I shall feel myself deserving of it if I
do not use every means to supply the sick & wounded at the hospitals
with the wood I contracted for on the NC RRoad to make them
comfortable. Which contract I made after a firm agreement with Mr
Webb & Mr Sumner in presence of Doctor Hawkins Prest R&G RRoad
{Raleigh & Gaston RR}. |

I again request that a train shall be placed at my
disposal so that the requisite quantity of so desirable an article
as fuel be hauled to the hospitals. |
