By telegraph from Staunton   25  To Hon Secty of War
 
   Sir we have fifty (50) tons of pig iron at Pond Gap on V. C. RR {Virginia Central RR} nineteen (19) miles west of Staunton a special train would have to be sent no regular train running

I have promised Shan & Kunkle to haul the iron as soon as the cars can be spared from Gov't transportation from Staunton and from Gordonsville. Five cars must be unloaded & not used as storehouses.
