Dear Sir,
The 5 flats and 2 box cars have been waiting here since 8 Oclock this morning for the distillery, it is now after 1 P. M. and no part of it has been sent here. Sent to Dr. Johns at 8 AM that the loco & cars were ready & we wished to have it loaded up today as they could not be spared.
The Government wants the two cars to leave here at 4 P. M. for corn, and I have told the agent to take them. The flats belong to the N. C. R. Road {North Carolina RR} and Major Branch, Q. M. at Petersburg worked most of last night to get them here, and I have no right to keep them waiting & shall have to send them back today.
Respectfully
E. H. Gill Supt
