{This movement would be 102 miles on the Northeastern RR and 40 miles on the Cheraw & Darlington RR. The next 150 miles would be by road, then 141 miles on the Richmond & Danville RR. This long road march was required because the North Carolina railroads were in full use moving troops and supplies in preparation for the early summer battles near Richmond. The move probably took about two weeks.}
