Brig Genl Jordon
A. A. G & Chief of Staff

General,
I would respectfully ask leave to make the following remarks on the Enclosed Communication
Private D B Haselton is sought for in detachment by Prest Ravenel of the N. E. RRoad {Northeastern RR}, as his services are indispensably required in that department; He is also sought for by Genl. Supt. H T Peake of the So Ca RRoad a his services as a Machinist are greatly needed. I would request that neither be granted. I ??? and brought to Camp about the 1st Jany inst, Private Haselton, as I considered his detachment expired under recently published orders. Private Haselton procured a 12 hour permit to visit the City on the 12th inst, (no doubt for the purpose of seeking this last detachment) and is now absent without leave, and liable to punishment when he returns, and before I can release him from duty with my Co.
Private P Gory, applied for by Engr & Supt Haines of the C&S RRd {Charleston & Savannah RR}, has been on duty with me for 3 years, and I do not think that Mr Haines know any thing of his capabilities for the work; he has just returned from a 7 day furlough, and he sought the detachment while absent. I would request the he be not detached.
Private Jno L. Duport was arrested on 6th inst under same ord and he has made several applications to his friends with in City to procure him a detachment, I would ask that his be not granted. Since the 1st inst, I have sent off 13 newly detached men, and have only 30 privates now for duty. I would therefore, respectfully & earnestly ask that no more detachments be made from my Command, as they promote demoralization.
Respectfully submitted
N B Wazyck Capt
