Quartermaster General's Department
Richmond, March 20, 1862

Major A. F. Cone
QM
Fredericksburg, Va.

Sir,
The corn on the Rappahannock should all be secured and placed beyond the reach of the enemy. Additional rolling stock will be obtained from Gen. Johnston and placed upon the Richmond & Fredericksburg R. R. {Richmond, Fredericksburg & Potomac RR}. This will enable you to forward to Richmond the excess of corn over the supply needed at Fredericksburg.
You will therefore arrange to secure all the corn upon the Rappahannock, which might be endangered, and send it with the excess you now have on hand to this depot.
A. C. Myers, Q. M. Genl
