Sir,
I have received your letter of 5th inst, calling my attention to the deficiency of rolling stock on the Orange & Alexandria Rail Road. In answer I have to say that the subject has long since attracted my attention, and I have endeavored to procure cars for that particular road, without success, from the Southern Roads. Now that the Federal Government has made their attack in South Carolina, not a car will be spared from that section. I have ordered passenger and box cars made and when finished will increase the stock where it is most needed.
I will be glad to see you.
A. C. Myers, A. Q. M. G.
