Earnestly asking on behalf of his company for some of the choice locomotives taken by our Army at Manassas. Encloses letter from Capt Morfit promising that they should have two.

Octo 7, 1862. QM General: I have promised to sell three of the engines to the Orange & Alexandria RR Co. The other four may be distributed among the Va Central, the Richmond & Danville and the Va & Tenn. Probably it will be best to give the Va Central two and the others one a piece. GWR
Referred to Capt. M Morfit for his information and action in conformity therewith. To be returned.
Octo 10, 1862. Engines distributed by lot as follows "President" "Red Bird" and "Winans" to O&A RR. "Hero" & "Job Terry" to V C RR, the other two to R&D RR. Mason Morfit Capt & AQM
