Sir,
   If any difficulty should arise in procuring transportation for my iron I will send you an order which will enable you to command transportation. It is of the utmost importance that the iron should not be delayed a day. The Supt. of the R. Road Virginia & Tennessee RR} will furnish you transportation when notified of the importance of the shipment.
Respectfully Yr obt Sevt

{The iron was for making horse shoes and nails. The QM Department was no longer providing horse shoes and nails for cavalry and artillery horses and this shipment of iron was the first shipment with which the Department would make its own shoes and nails.}
