| Your communication of the 28th inst recd.
???? Petersburg. |
| I regret that ???? power to comply with
your request to furnish you with Engine and cars for the
transportation of iron from Rogersville {the
Rogersville & Jefferson RR}. |
| You will ????? rejected our motive power.
At present we have but three engines available all of which are about
to be laid up for necessary repairs. Twenty of our flats are unserviceable
for transportation of iron their platforms having decayed; we are now
??ing a supply of lumber to put three flats in good serviceable
order. |
| We always take
pleasure in ??ing the demands of the Government upon our Road, in the
present instance I do not see how that trains can be spared. |
| I should presume
that the Richmond & Danville R. Road was abundantly able to
furnish a train for the purpose indicated; their ??? all ???
considerable and ??? they ????? in the matter of supplying one for the
completion of the ????? as the Government. |
