Sir,
Upon my return to the City I found your communication of Decr. 3rd to which I hasten to reply. Enclosed I send you copies of the proceedings of the Convention referred to in your note. You will perceive that no resolution respecting the free transportation of sick and wounded soldiers was passed by the Convention. In this Connection I would respectfully suggest that this and other Railroad Companies throughout the South are under existing arrangements contributing largely and beyond their just transportation to the support of the Government and any additional burthens that might be imposed upon them would be oppressive.
Very Respectfully
J. P. Wood
