Colonel,
   I am exceedingly obliged by your kind remembrance of the difficulties I am encumbered with in the way of getting out My Engines, and would gladly accept your offer. If I did not have the experience of the No. 9 (repaired for me at the Raleigh shops) before and since she came out, she has not made a trip she has not needed repairs. The same state of things occurred on every instance with the other Engines done up for me in other shops
   In fact, it is all Expenses, and nothing substantial or in any way reliable about such work. I have just gotten 2 more lathes and have now a full number of good mechanics in the shops here & with your help to get me some supplies from Government, I think you will find, I will take some of the pressure from your shoulders. I say, Dear Colonel, see Major Ironton & ask him to hurry up the hose I ask from you some time ago. I have asked Mr Lauton of the P&R Road to a?d ????? for me as fast as it can be deld {Probably "delivered"}
With Respt
