Gentlemen,
   Your communication of 13th Inst. relative to the taking up of the iron of the Columbia & Mt. Pleasant R. R. {Tennessee & Alabama RR} Tenn., has been received, and was referred to the Hon. Secy of War, with the following endorsement. -- "Respectfully Referred to the Hon. Secy of War, with the recommendation that the current expenses of collecting and distributing railroad iron be paid by the officers of the Qr. Masters Dept., most conveniently stationed with reference to the points of collection and distribution; and that Genl. Bragg be requested to give all necessary protection and assistance to Col. Logwood in taking the iron from the Columbia & Mt. Pleasant R. R. Tenn."
   Which has been approved by the Secretary, who directs the A. & I. G. to "cause any orders required." The matter will be placed in the hands of the Adjt. & Insp. Genl. immediately with the request that he will issue the necessary orders without delay.
