| I have just seen Col Garnett who informs
me that there will be two & a half miles of R. R. iron from the R. F. &
P. R. R. {Richmond, Fredericksburg & Potomac RR}
instead of 3 1/4 miles with but few spikes & chairs. It is hoped
however to add a mile or two promptly from iron along the Orange &
Alexandria R. R. near Gordonsville. Lieut Williamson of the Eng Troops
with a detachment is under orders to secure it without delay, if
possible. |
