The commission to examine and advise on what Rail Roads in the C. S. the iron on their tracks can be best dispensed with
   By direction of the Hon. Sec. of War, I enclose for your consideration, copies of communications from Capt. L. P. Grant, Corps Engrs. P. A. C. S. with the request that you will, after perusing them, report your views in regard to the possibility & propriety of procuring from the sources enumerated, as well as any others that my occur to you, the supply of iron required to complete the important railway connection between Blue Mountain, Ala. and Rome, Ga.
