Dear Sir,
   The Commanding General is advised that there are some 75 or 100 tons {10 to 13 car loads} of scrap iron and other metals at your Depot at Wilmington destined for the public service at this place, the early removal of this metal here, is of the utmost importance to the safety of the harbor, and I am instructed to urge you to use all practicable dispatch in having it forwarded to this point, consigned to the Quarter Master.
