| In regard to the timber for Fort Sumter and
other points. I have to state that the Dept has made arrangements for
supplies from different points but the lack of transportation (reported)
has rendered it impossible to furnish requisitions. On the S. C. RR.
{South Carolina RR} a lot has been waiting
some time. On the C&S RR {Charleston & Savannah
RR}, I have also a lot and until very recently has been able to
get it down but not sufficient for the demand. Col Hatch is cutting in
Christ Church Parish and has furnished a small supply. The train on C&S
RR engaged at this work was transferred to the N. E. R. R.
