General,
The Judge of the C. S. District Court, for this State, has decided the case of the C. S. vs the Florida R. R. in favor of the Government, and though the case still hangs in the court on some minor point, I have no doubt the decision will be in favor of the Govt, permitting it to take up the iron and do with it as it thinks proper. I would like therefore, to know the wishes of the War Dept in regard to the iron.
In the absence of instructions, I am endeavoring to extend the Ga & Pensacola R. R. to the Apalachicola River, a being the shortest line to complete a line of transportation by R. R. and Steamboat. It seems to me of great importance to complete the road from Thomasville to Albany and from Monticello to Thomasville. This matter has doubtless received the consideration of the War Dept, and I shall be glad to know its wishes in the matter. This letter will probably be carried to the seat of the General Govt, by Maj Hamilton, of the Qr. Mr. Dept, who will return here, and can bring your answer.
I am very respty
Sam. Jones
