Genl Lee directs me to say in reply to your letter of the
20th inst. that he wishes you to impress the full number of slaves
originally ordered for the completion of the Ala. & Miss Rivers R. R. as
it is necessary that the road should be completed at the earliest
practicable moment. |

You will please notify Col Blount that Genl Lee has
directed that the original orders should be carried out, and that the
necessity of the case would not admit of the delay which would ensue by
sending these instructions through him. |
