Sir,
   We are shipping a quantity of Machinery, Castings &c to Chf Eng. I H Warner Columbus Geo.
   Maj Young Chf Qr Mr of this Dept. and Maj Peters Chf Trans Qr Mr at this place inform me that directions have been given that this freight shall be transported without delay & take precedence of all other freight.
  Lots will be sent you & you will please give it your particular attention to see that it is carefully handled and none of it mislaid & that it is all shipped without being detained, those belonging to the same piece of machinery & parts of the same casting should go together.
   This machinery will probably go up in the "Black Diamond" tomorrow or next day.
   I have received no reply to my letter of 2nd inst in relation to guard.

{"Black Diamond" was a river steamer that would go from Selma to Montgomery. The next leg would have been on the Montgomery & West Point RR to Columbus.}
