| I certify that 1223 bars of
Rail Road iron were appropriated by my orders for the protection of
the batteries and magazines on St Simons & Tekyl Islands,
Brunswick Harbor; and that during my charge of the works a portion of
this iron, how much I cannot properly say, was used for the purposes
for which it was appropriated. The remainder was at the orders of
General Mercer who succeeded me in charge.
