Dear Sir

   Have you succeeded in procuring me a doz of (58) Fifty Eight inch Tire. Several of our Engines are disabled for the want of Tires. I find it near to impossible to procure any. If you can assist me in procuring a doz you will be doing me a particular favor. While on Rail Road matters I will mention another circumstance to you & if consistent with duty beg your assistance. Some Eighteen Months or Two years ago the Government took Two Very Fine Lathes from this Road. They were new. Never having been used. We had no immediate use for them just then from this fact though we had no shafting to service them however we have procured Shafting & everything else Necessary to put them to work. In case the Government will let us have them back. It is actually Necessary stray we should have them, or others as it is impossible for us to perform our work successfully without Lathes. If you can possibly & Consistently do any thing for me in procuring the Lathes you will Much Oblige by doing it. The Lathes are Now at the Government Shops in Augusta. Let me know if you can do anything for me.

Yours Very Respec
G. J. Fulton Super  {Superintendent, Atlantic & Gulf RR}
